Ruth
Cato Turton grew up in the South and is the epitome of a refined
and genteel Southern lady. After graduation from college, she met
and married Canadian minister, Ronald Turton, who was then serving
a pastorate in Florida. They were a dynamic ministerial team for
forty-one years until his passing in 1995, at which time Ruth, an
ordained minister in her own right, assumed his pastorate, a daunting
task for anyone. She was also honored to assume her late husband's
forty-seven year position as the International Protestant Chaplain
to the outdoor amusement and entertainment business, primarily the
circus and carnival industry. She served as the first female president
of the local ministerial association and is held in high esteem
by her colleagues.
